Jericho- the oldest and lowest city of the world. On
entering the promise land the manna stopped and the Lord met Joshua at
Jericho and said take off your sandals the ground where you are standing is
Holy. He said He came as the captain of the Lord of Hosts- the Lord appeared
as a battling Lord after the wedding vows- the giving of the torah-the
Passover- they newly circumcised themselves here after all those years in
the desert- and then
the priest marched around the ancient city of Jericho
blowing the trumpets. This bridal dance 7 times around the male is still
done in every Jewish wedding. This is the first city totally devoted to the
Lord- a gift to the bridegroom. It is the point of blessing and sits in the
entrance gateway at the eastern gate into the promise land.
Once called the city of God, the city of Palms, the
city of the Moon, and rhea by the Arabs meaning fragrance and smell of
oranges. The Spirit of the Lord is moving through this gateway and releasing
His presence and healing fires as He once again stands in Jericho and speaks
the Son of Man has come to seek the lost and he too is a son of Abraham.
Spoken from the Kings lips we will see this prophecy come to fulfillment.
Zaccheus welcomed the Lord and gave half his possessions to the poor and the
Lord said salvation has come to this house. Jericho has welcomed Christians
into the city and has therefore once again invited the Lord?
The city is open for tourism, tour buses come daily.
The checkpoints are open for visitors who freely come and go in this
peaceful city. We have a mission house where we pray, worship and read the
Bible in one of the refugee camps
